Who We Are

About Northway Education

We work alongside schools to provide bespoke, one-to-one mentoring for young people aged 7–16 who are struggling to thrive in mainstream education.

Our Story

Founded on experience. Built around a gap.

Northway Education was founded by people with significant experience working with young people across education, mentoring, and community settings. We started the company because we saw a genuine gap: there was no shortage of alternative provision, but there was a shortage of provision that was truly personal, consistently high-quality, and kept schools properly informed every step of the way.

We are deliberately small, and we intend to stay that way as we grow — because size is the enemy of standards in this work. Every young person we take on receives consistent, individual attention, and every school we work with has a direct point of contact they can actually speak to. As we bring in additional mentors over time, the same care applies: only people who share our values and our commitment to doing this properly.

What We Stand For

Our Core Values

Young Person Centred

Everything we do starts with the young person. We listen, adapt, and build every programme around their individual needs, strengths, and aspirations — never a one-size-fits-all solution.

Results Focused

We set clear, measurable goals and track progress carefully — always working towards meaningful outcomes for the young people in our care and the schools we partner with.

Commitment to Never Give Up

We believe in every young person, no matter how many times they may have been let down before. Our commitment is unwavering — we show up, every time, without exception.

The Difference We Make

Why Northway is Different

We're small by design. That means every young person gets genuine, consistent attention — and every school gets a real person to speak to, not a system. Here's what that looks like for the young people we work with.

Build Self-Esteem and Confidence

We help young people recognise their own worth and develop the inner confidence to face new challenges head-on.

Foster Aspirations and Resilience

We support young people to set meaningful goals, believe in their future, and develop the resilience to keep going when things get hard.

Provide a Nurturing Environment

Every session takes place in a safe, caring setting where young people feel respected, heard, and valued for who they are.

Engage Students in Positive Learning

We engage young people through the activities they love. For those motivated by sport, we have access to a 7-a-side astro pitch with full equipment during school hours — a brilliant way to build confidence, routine and positive relationships alongside their learning.

Build Positive Relationships

Through consistent, trustworthy mentoring we help young people develop the skills to form healthy relationships with peers, family, and their wider community.

Identify and Develop Each Student's Strengths

We take time to understand what makes each young person unique — then build on those strengths to open doors they didn't know were there.

Child Protection

Our Safeguarding Commitment

Northway Education takes its safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously. The safety and welfare of every young person in our care is our highest priority — and this commitment underpins everything we do.

All of our staff and mentors hold a current, enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and have completed up-to-date safeguarding training in line with the latest statutory guidance. We operate under strict safeguarding policies and procedures, and all staff understand their individual duty to report any concerns without delay.

We work in close collaboration with each school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure that every young person we support is protected, and that any concerns are handled appropriately and in accordance with local safeguarding procedures. Parents and carers are always kept informed and involved in the support we provide.
